Sorry for not updating this blog in a while. Mid terms are officially over and a whole lot has been going on these past few weeks. And I promise. I will be doing my Target Store Gift card giveaway soon. :)
Here are my thoughts out loud that I wanted to share...
Through the days of grieving the lost of our love ones (uncle sheldon & inang), god allowed us to have comfort and peace during the somber days of mourning. This profound peace Chad and I never experienced before. He taught us to be still, to have grace, and that grieving at any time is normal. Though it has been a whirlwind of emotions, we look back at some of the memories we will always cherish and hold dear to our hearts... Thanking GOD for his every blessing and for the perfect peace that passes all understanding...

STORY OF MY LIFE: CONSUMED WITH HOMEWORK + RANDOMNESS + FUN

This past weekend consumed most of my time and energy doing homework...I was stuck in my own lil corner rewriting, revising, reading and playing with my lovely pens, pencils, highlighters and sharpie pens! lol! I must say...I'm really loving school right now :0

As you can see, I'm obessessed with my school supplies!

Later that night, on a lovely saturday evening, the family and I enjoyed some quality time being random, making funnies, playing just dance 2, and watching a movie...

and here is the diva for the day...NEVAEH wearing H&M from head to toe! My favorite: her aviator glasses for $4.95 Can't beat that with a bat!

EMBRACE THE CAMERA: A FAMILY AFFAIR

I'm back in full effect... It's been a whirlwind these past few weeks with working full time and starting school again after 5 years! WHOA! I know right? But hey *hi five and jive...hehe

In the midst of it all, its was just my luck that I caught the flu. This year, flu season got the best of me. Missing a week of work and a few days of school, nonetheless, I am now recovering and shaking off this flu that now turned into bronchitis.

On Tuesday I was feeling 90% better! (thanks to a lot TLC from the hubby and girls, rest and a long list of medications) The family and I headed to the Korean Bell in San Pedro. There we spent some quality time enjoying each others laughs, cries (nevaeh was cranky) a beautiful sunset and we even got to fly a kite :) Here are a few shots from that day, and my embrace the camera for this week...Cheers! Wishing everyone a happy, healthy family affair ;)

Did you know that when you give to others in need, the Bible says it’s like giving directly to God Himself? When you step out and bless other people, you are honoring and blessing the Lord. The scripture tells us to give our best, to give generously. In other words, stretch yourself. Go out of your way. It may be uncomfortable to walk over and pay for someone’s gas, but that’s being generous.

I encourage you today, look for ways to give generously and meet the needs of others. Remember, people have many different types of needs. There may be someone who needs some encouragement. Give generously when you give that encouragement. There may be someone in your life that just needs a friend; they need some quality time. Give generously of your time and pour into that person. As you give generously to others, God will multiply those seeds in your own life in return!

I came across this blog, The Anderson Crew, which I seen from another blog, that I seen from another blog etc...get the picture? Ok well here is my Embrace the camera for today. Here's a quick snap shot taken as soon as I got home today. After a long day its so nice to have my family to come home to. I love being greeted by 1. Paleko (our dog)-- once he hears my keys rattling at the door he runs, barks, jumps, and well sometimes tinkles from excitement haha...i know gross! 2. Leilani: She will have her homework assignments ready for me to correct and it never fails...she always has to ask... Mom, Can we go to Target today? I need to buy more pencils! 3. 13.1 MILES OF MIND, BODY & SOUL

Let me start by saying: I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me! AMEN!

I did it! We all did it! Feeling accomplished and overjoyed that we all completed 13.1 miles along the streets of PCH, huntington beach to bolsa chica, around the way yonder and back!!! A beautiful morning to run, air was light and weather was perfect, being surrounded by supportive family and friends, we couldn't ask for anything more.

We were all blessed to have gods presence during the whole race. I kid you not, if it weren't for my praise and worship songs and Chad's DJ remix on my ipod it would've been more difficult to stay strong and focused. Also a complete breakfast, peanut butter banana sandwich and one orange helped me and gave me sustained energy. Not to forget GU and 2 bags of energy jelly beans which brought me to finish as I downed the whole bag at mile 11. LOL!!! It's definitely a mind game, I can see how easily it is to get discouraged from all the other runners passing you up, but I kept asking my cousin Ginny, are we ok? She kept telling me yes we're fine, trust me we'll catch up towards the end, and sure enough we did. I give all the credit to my supportive cousin who found out last minute that she was going to run, Thanks Kate & Pam! Knowing it was my first half, she stuck by my side the whole time, she encouraged me and kept us on a steady pace. With my right leg going numb at mile 3, and having to use the restroom come mile 4, we were non stop the rest of the way as we trotted and finished 13.1 miles in 2:58!!! Not bad considering I gave myself about 3 hours to finish.

I had no clue what to expect. A lot of activity happened from beginning to end from what I can recall, at mile 6, I spotted my Uncle Miko and cheered him on but he didn't hear me, since he was so focused lol, at mile 7 I spotted my friend Andrea yelled my heart out and was waving frantically for her to see me, but she was in the zone! Kudo's to her, my uncle miko and aunty amy who beat their estimated time. So happy for them! Then at mile 8 Chad calls me to ask how I was doing and to to veer to the left when I finish, lol. All I remember was telling him 5 more miles babe just 5 more, ok bye! Mile 9 we saw our friend Kate and chatted for a bit to make sure everyone was ok. Mile 11 we saw our other Aunt, aka free-99 (lol jk,) who was determined to run and finish with us and she did. I can honestly say this experience was so much fun, such a supportive group of strangers cheering you on, excited and energetic volunteers giving you water, vitalyte, and shark candy...and all kinds of other free goodies afterwards: beer, coffee, snacks, and much more. I look forward to running again and training a lot more harder for the next run. Thank you all for the prayers, support, love and kind words of wisdom! This was one of my life long goals that Im glad to have reached it.

DAILY DEVOTION

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. -Philippians 4:6

With my first half marathon coming this weekend, I've been feeling overwhelmed with training, a bit fatigue, and under the weather (due to flu season)... So in the midst of it all, I'm glad I came across this scripture as a reminder that at the end of the day God's always in control and is always faithful. I took in this scripture as: learn to strive for a humbled heart, be grateful for what we have, pray about everything good & bad, don't be weary, seek and give God our troubles, doubts, fears, etc. And in return because he is the great physician, he will take care of all our needs no matter what circumstance arise. When we make this known to him he blesses us with the desires of our heart and pours out his favor on us... unconditional love, peace and understanding.

Since my goal for this race is to merely finish, I plan to sign up for more 5ks, 10ks and maybe one more half marathon. Crazy right? lol not really, for me its a good way to keep small accomplishments and staying motivated to a healthier living. Today the family and I will be picking up my ''bib" for the race. I will keep you all posted and hope to get some cool flicks from my husband Chad come race day :) YAY!

FOUR GENERATIONS

We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord -2 Corinthians 5:8

Today we reflect on the life of my Grandma Aning, Carolina U. Rabanal. Born to life in 1923 and born into eternal life on January 31, 2009. A quality life pursued. Sixty-seven years of marriage with our grandfather Isabelo, Sr. Eight children: Isabelo, Jr, Alex, Lita, Tessie, Wally, Marissa, Divina and Babylyn. Fifteen grandchildren: Don, Rommel, Roger, Randy, Liza, Joel, Hazel, Jun, Angelica, Catherine, April, Stacey, JR, Michelle and Bryan. And Eight Great Grandchildren: Leilani, Nevaeh, Adam, Abby, Dino, Patrick, Isabel and Igi boy.

I remember her kisses, she would greet me from afar with her eyes squinted, cigarette backwards in her mouth, yelling and laughing that she could recognize me. She would hold my face, sniff both my cheeks, mumble words in ilocano, as I hug her tightly and giggle, I could smell the strong scent of cigarettes on her clothes. She wore a beanie and about 3 layers of clothing because she was so petite and always cold. My fondest memory would be circa 1987, it was my merienda almost everyday: cold rice and about three Rolo's. Yup she would heat up the cold bowl of rice and rolo's in the microwave and serve it to me and boy did she make sure I ate the whole bowl! lol.... Oh the sweet memories... how I love and miss my grandma and I'm sure all the family does as well. I have dreams of her every now and then and feel peace that she's with God. It was her dream to see me get married...every time she saw me she would ask me (trying her best to speak english) "when are you getting married." I would just laugh and tell her don't worry, you'll get to see me walk down the aisle. When Chad and I got married last September, her absence was felt deeply. What made the grieving process easier was that she knew we all loved her, we knew she loved us and we knew that god had used her life for this glory.

Today we remember a woman of courage, strength, love, and a long quality life lived. We love you Gramma and miss you so much!

Leilani came up with a cute name for Nevaeh's play kitchen a while back, so I decided to use that for the title and thought it was appropriate for this blog entry. The family and I spent the day running errands and while we were shopping/browsing we came across a cupcake recipe book. For only $6.98 and 100 recipes, we had to buy it! Most of the ingredients were bought at Target and we couldn't wait to come home and start baking! Finally after a few months, I'm back on the grind in the kitchen (yes...finally!!!) LOL! So Lani and I will be baking more from the recipe book and we plan to send some out for Valentines day...Yay!

CALIFORNIA SCIENCENTER

I can vaguely remember the days of my youth taking field trips and bringing my lunch pail with a thermos, sandwich and some chips. Many moons later here I am as a chaperone for Leilani's fifth grade class. We headed out in a brand new school bus with seat belts down to the CaliforniaScienCenter. We got to experience an IMAX film: Hubble, an hour tour of the center and a lunch outside on a bright warm sunny day. I will definitely be taking my girls and family there again. Happy New Year Everyone!!! Thanking god for a blessed 2010 year. Praying this year for more of god's wisdom, growth in personal relationship with him and spreading his love and blessings to all. 2011 is already starting off with lots of love and a whole lot of celebrations! January is already booked every weekend for birthdays, baptisms, weddings, showers & anniversaries! Can't wait to make more memories with our families and friends. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Hope you all had a blessed CHRISTmas with lots of love, family, food and good laughs! For us it was all of the above and then some and our first as a married couple :D...2010 has definitely been awesome and blessed!

Here are some of the festivities of the day...We continued with our tradition of opening gifts in the morning, though we were up all night with our not so feeling good doggy Paleko, Christmas was still a blessing and by morning and lots of prayer, he was feeling better! The girls were so excited to see whats been sitting in our living room under all that wrapping paper, gift bags and boxes, it was such a joy to see their eyes wide open in awe and teeth grinning from ear to ear, we then spent quality time with all our family and we ended the night with our traditional white elephant gift exchange that included most of the cousins and a new game of LCR, of course being the gamble-holics that we they are lol... they turned the game into a money making, laugh your heart out, anxiety heart pulsating event...Nothing but good times indeed! Every year just keeps getting better and better.

Just a lil story about our white elephant "gift exchange" it was started by our parents back in the day (early 90s) and we continued to keep the tradition alive every year since. We had a variety of interesting gifts, from what I remember we had cash, edible undies?!?, GC's to (bev-mo, itunes, target), a fishing pole LOL, board games, crown royal reserved, wine, a box of apples (with a gc), scratchers, ninja turtle snuggie, shake weights, fushigi ball, $123 in cash money (our minimum was $30), movie tickets, knotts berry farm tickets that can be used on or before 12.30.2010 (wth) LOL, a calendar, piggy bank and the gift that keeps on giving a priceless picture with an autographed signature (xoxo) from one of the cousins! LOL!!! It was so much fun, imagine about 28 ppl (i think) and 2 hours later...it was nothing but a almost pee in your pants kind of moment every time someone opened a gift and a lot of ooooo's and ahhhhh's especially everyone trying to get the not so presentable red bag with all the money! LOL

Good times and thank you all for making this Christmas a special one. :D See you all for New years!!!

This Christmas, we are expecting to feed 150 less fortunate children in the Philippines!
For $3.00 per child, they will be able to enjoy a warm, healthy meal and also participate in games and activities that will make lasting Christmas memories.
These children barely get a bowl of rice a day and on some days, they just go hungry. Our hope this season, is that no one will go hungry and that they will feel the true meaning of Christmas through our love and generosity.
